"Just so, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance.” - Luke 15:7, ESV
2 Peter 3:9 says, “The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.”
Philippians 4:6-7 says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
“Do all things without grumbling or disputing, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world…” (Philippians 2:14-15, ESV).
“That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.” -2 Corinthians 4:16-18 NLT
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is- his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Romans 12:2 NIV
Whether you have children in college, grandchildren, friends, or just care about the next generation, it is so important that we pray for them at this time of year. The start of a school year can really create a trajectory of an entire year. What clubs, ministries, and organizations that a student chooses put them around certain people and environments? This can either help them in their faith or pull them down.
Autumn is a favorite time of year for many. It is marked by the vibrant colors of turning leaves, the abundance of apples, pumpkins, and flowers, and it prepares us for the long winter season to come.
The fall season is the time of harvesting crops and preparing for winter, related to the biblical phrase "reap what you sow." In spiritual terms, we reap the benefits of our faithful labor of prayer, love, and humility.
"Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy" ~Psalm 103:2-4
Sometimes the days can feel weary and life can be hard. Circumstances might be constantly changing around us. We may find ourselves facing huge battles.
“Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up” -Deuteronomy 11:19
Have you ever wondered whether God was opening a door or if something was merely the enemy teasing you with a fresh “opportunity”? It can be difficult to decipher whether your good idea is a “God idea" and a sign from Him. In fact, I am a believer that some things brought our way are merely holy distractions. Though the opportunity may look “good on paper,” it is simply not meant for you at this moment in your life.
If you’ve had a long day, or feel weary or burdened tonight, may God give you His peace to know that He’s taking care of all that concerns you, so you can get some rest.
As God’s children, our Father wants us to look to Him for all of our needs. The Bible tells us so, encouraging us to “pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests” (Ephesians6:18).
