While this story has a happy ending, without a hero to save this dangling dog from the elevator, things could have ended very differently!
Inside Edition reports on how one sweet puppy was saved from a very precarious position by a fast-thinking and friendly bystander. Fernando Santos is shown on the video approaching the elevator and pushing the button.
He’s scrolling on his phone rather than attending to the elevator, so he doesn’t notice the little guy that’s hooked onto the elevator’s outer door. Of course, few, if any, of us expect to see a dog suspended mid-air from an elevator!
As Fernando looks up while waiting, he is surprised to see the little guy hanging just above him! After jumping back in shock, he reaches up and gets the pup down—saving his life!
Evidently, this has happened before. In this case, the dog’s owner entered the elevator with their hands full and accidentally left the pet behind. In some situations, dogs have not gotten into the elevator quickly enough, and they’ve been pulled up as the elevator began moving. It’s a frightening thought!
Thankfully, Fernando was there to rescue this adorable, brown and white fluff ball! No doubt, the pup would have been horribly missed. Inside Edition’s reporter speculated that because this particular dog was wearing a harness instead of a leash, he survived the ordeal. He might well have been choked if he’d not been in the more protective harness.
Ironically, the cute pooch must have become pretty content dangling there above the ground. After all, he didn’t yelp or bark to alert Fernando at all! Perhaps, his owner hadn’t even realized he was missing.
With Fernando’s help, everything turned out just fine. It just goes to show that we never know what strange circumstances we’ll face when heading out the door each day, and we ought to be ready to offer a helping hand when those crazy things come our way!
