Great-Grandmother's Sweet Shopping Trip

Talena holds a special bond with her great-grandmother, Terri Waddell. Not only does Talena adore Terri, but she cherishes the memories of wearing the dresses Terri lovingly made for her as a child. Their shared love for fashion has always been a beautiful connection between them. However, when Terri recently confided, “I don’t feel pretty,” Talena knew she had to act. You don’t want to miss this great-grandmother’s sweet shopping trip. It will bring a smile to your face and perhaps make you a little misty-eyed.

“Straight away, I had this light bulb moment,” Talena recalled. “We’ve got to go shopping.” Determined to bring back the light, love, and confidence within her great-grandmother, Talena and her mother planned a unique girls’ day out. Their mission was clear: to remind Terri of her beauty and strength.

The trio set off on their fashion adventure, visiting several boutiques and trying on an array of dresses. They even decided to dress in the same outfits, showcasing how fashion transcends generations. Terri's eyes sparkled with joy and pride when she saw herself standing beside her daughter and great-granddaughter in the mirror.

As they twirled in front of the dressing room mirrors, their bondm grew even stronger. Laughter filled the air as they swapped dresses and shared fashion tips. The once-diminished light in Terri’s eyes began to shine brightly again.

Terri’s transformation was remarkable. With each dress she tried on, her confidence blossomed. She was no longer the 97-year-old who felt unseen; she was a radiant, stylish woman enjoying every moment with her beloved family.

This heartwarming day out was more than just a shopping trip. It was a celebration of love, family, and the power of lifting each other up. Talena’s thoughtful gesture reminded her great-grandmother of her timeless beauty and strength, proving that a bit of love and fashion can indeed lift the soul.

In a world where we often forget to appreciate the small things, this beautiful story of Talena and Terri is a reminder of the profound impact of kindness and love. Their day out was not just about finding the perfect dress but about rekindling a cherished bond and making memories that will last a lifetime.

Brother Shows Support For His Sister Fighting Cancer In Sweetest Way

Get ready for the tissues. A brother shows support for his sister fighting cancer in the sweetest way.

A beautiful teen girl is given a horrible diagnosis of cancer. Her long and gorgeous brown locks are being cut and shaved off in preparation for chemotherapy. To show support as her tears fall from her eyes and she grabs a tissue, she turns to her kind-hearted brother standing right next to her and gives him a smile as his head is shaved for support.

The brave young woman shared that she went to the ER in March, and they discovered a cancerous mass. She tells how her lymphoma is very hostile and quick, so it needs treatment fast. The girl's name is Tita Hall, and she tells how her family has been by her side during every step of the process. She shares with a smile as Tita tells how her brother Levi was with her when she was getting her head shaved, and she thought he was kidding around about getting his head shaved. To her surprise, he sat down and shaved his head, too. She was so proud and encouraged by his actions.

The brother Levi says that he wanted to be there for her and he jokes that he was also in bad need of a haircut. Tita has finished 3/6 rounds of chemo now. She tells boldly, “I didn’t take this as why is God punishing me. I took it as what can I do to help others in this situation.” She chose to share her story virtually to encourage others.

Her mother then tells about how she has always been positive since she was born. She reveals that when they found out about the cancer, her brave daughter turned to her and told her mother that she was going to be ok. She said, “That’s her character.” This girl has modeled such faith and security that God loves her and has a plan in the midst of her pain. It is truly inspiring. Please pray for her.

“Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.” James 1:2-4

Candace Cameron Bure Reveals Powerful Advice That Altered Her Bible Reading

It is always encouraging to hear from well-known voices in how they cultivate their faith in our culture today. Candace Cameron Bure reveals powerful advice in this video that altered her Bible reading.

Candace is sitting down with Tara Leigh Cobble in this interview video. She reveals that she was surprised when she heard Tara Leigh say that the Bible is not put in chronological order. She gives Tara Leigh a humorous look, and the two laugh together. Candace tells Tara Leigh that one of the best tips that she received from Tara Leigh was when she said, “to look for God in all of the stories, don’t look for yourself.” Tara Leigh responds that it is amazing, and it truly changes everything when we look for Him.

Tara Leigh Cobble is the host of The Bible Recap, which is a virtual Bible Reading plan you can follow throughout the year. She gives a short recap on her podcast every day on the passages read that day. Her Bible reading plan is chronological and she encourages her readers to find a “God shot” every day.

Watching these two seasoned women discuss how they study the Bible inspires us all to look to Jesus in His Word. Life is about giving Him glory. His Bible is His love letter to us, but our goal in reading it should be to get to know Him more. Candace encourages us to seek Him and shares how this has transformed her own time in the Bible with God. We, too, can have this fire and excitement about Jesus and His Word when we seek Him with all our hearts. Part of seeking Him is reading His Bible to us. It is such a gift and every word is inspired by God.

“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God[a] may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17

Random Conversation With Stranger Brightens Woman's Entire Day

A random and unexpected conversation with a stranger brightened up one woman’s entire day.

Words are powerful, able to cut down and hurt and uplift, encourage and motivate. What we say and how we say it matters a great deal. Anyone who says that old, popular adage, “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me,” could not be more wrong.

The Bible makes it abundantly clear that the words we say matter a great deal. In the Old Testament book of Proverbs, the tongue is said to have the power of life and death. The tongue may be a small part of the body, but the Word of God advises that it be used wisely and with wisdom.

A short clip posted on social media is a perfect example of the power of an uplifting and encouraging word. In the video, a woman in a wheelchair is hurrying to catch a bus but is unexpectedly stopped by a stranger. The man and the young woman go on to have a short but meaningful conversation.

He tells her he thinks she looks lovely and likes stopping people who “have something.” He then asks her name and a few questions about her life.  He proceeds to ask her about the biggest challenge she has overcome in her life.

“Learning how to cope with becoming chronically ill,” she says. “It started getting quite severe around two years ago.”

The woman reveals that her sweet interaction with the stranger has been “really nice” because she was “having a bad day” up until their conversation. She says it was because people were “being not so nice.”

She ends the video by giving the man some wisdom and words to live by.

“Probably just to always persevere,” she says.

We never know how much our words or actions will impact or influence someone else's lives. Always consider your words because once they leave your mouth, you can never put them back in.

Proverbs 18:21 “Death and life are in the power of the tongue; and those to whom it is dear will have its fruit for their food.”

Carol Burnett's Life and Career Celebrated During Special Ceremony

The legendary Carol Burnett’s life and career were celebrated and recognized during a special ceremony.

Entertainment is one of the most challenging and most competitive fields. The number of people who want to become singers, actors and actresses is staggering. Everyone seems to want to be on the stage or the big screen, but only a select few achieve that dream and goal.

Carol Burnett is one of those few people who made it. Not only was she able to make a career out of entertaining others, but it’s been a historic one. She is a comedic icon who has kept audiences laughing for decades. The Carol Burnett Show sketches are timeless, often resulting in the cast members laughing as much as the audience.

Because of her many comedic contributions over the years, Carol was honored in a very special way at an iconic Hollywood landmark, The Grauman’s Chinese Theater. A clip posted on YouTube captured the special ceremony, which was attended by some of the biggest names in entertainment, including Dick Van Dyke, Bill Hader, Maya Rudolph and Jimmy Kimmel.

At the ceremony, Carol literally left her mark in front of the famed theater, placing her hands and feet in wet cement.

Everyone in the clip spoke highly of Carol and her work. They also listed the endless awards she has earned throughout her career, including several Emmys, a Grammy and the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

When it came time for Carol to speak, she mentioned a hilarious memory that shows just how far her gift for comedy has taken her in life.

“We were poor, but we would occasionally come here to the Chinese,” she said. “And it was first-run, so it was more expensive than the second-run theaters. Before we’d leave, my grandmother said, ‘Well, let’s, let's hit the ladies’ room.’ So, we’d go in there and steal all the toilet paper.”

What a talented and funny lady!

Proverbs 17:22 “A glad heart makes a healthy body, but a crushed spirit makes the bones dry.”

Heroic Officer Runs Into Burning Home to Save Man in Wheelchair

A heroic police officer ran into a burning home to save a man in a wheelchair.

Hero is a word that is used way too often and lightly in conversations and on television. Most individuals who are described as heroes are not heroic in the slightest. People will usually, for some inexplicable reason, say athletes, actors, musicians and even politicians are heroes.

Can we all agree that someone who puts a ball through a hoop, catches a pass, recites lines written by someone else or asks for your vote is not a hero? More often than not, these people aren’t acting out of concern for others. Instead, it’s much more likely that they are motivated by selfish ambition. They may be many things, but a hero is not one of them.

However, some people are heroes—everyday individuals who don’t seek fame, fortune, or adulation. A clip posted on YouTube captured one man’s heroic actions as he put his life on the line to save someone else.

A police officer in New Jersey, on a full sprint, approaches a burning house and goes in after the two people still inside the structure. The officer is immediately met with a house full of smoke, making it nearly impossible to see anything in front of him.

Moments after entering the house, the officer locates the woman and instructs her to “get out, get out, get out.” Even though the officer mentions that the smoke has gotten to the point where he cannot see anything, he continues into the house, searching for the woman’s husband.

Eventually, the officer is able to pull the man, who uses a wheelchair when he is not at home, outside of the burning building to safety.

That officer is a genuine and actual hero. He put his life on the line for someone else, doing something heroic.

Proverbs 18:10 “The man of the Lord is a strong town: the upright man running into it is safe.”

105-Year-Old Gets Finally Gets Her Master's Degree After 84 Years

A 105-year-old woman finally received her master’s degree after waiting more than 80 years for it.

Regardless of whether someone is still in school or not or how many degrees they might hold, an education is never truly complete. There will always be more knowledge and information to learn and obtain. Someone who says otherwise or believes getting an education is useless is an individual to avoid at all costs.

No matter the age or stage in life, we can all learn more. The old saying, “You can’t teach an old dog new tricks,” while an incredibly popular adage, couldn’t be more wrong. Pick up a book on a subject you know little or nothing about. You’re almost guaranteed to come away with more knowledge than you had before you began reading on page one.

Virginia Hislop understands the importance of education. That is why, after more than 80 years, she took part in Stanford University’s graduation ceremonies and received her master’s degree, according to a clip posted on YouTube.

Virginia had originally started working on her master’s degree in education at Stanford University in 1940. But WWII interrupted her educational plans. Her husband, George, was a second lieutenant in the Army, and his unit was called up, so Virginia and her husband moved to Oklahoma.

After moving, Virginia became a mother of two children but never returned to her degree. However, in Oklahoma and later in Washington, Virginia continued to work in the educational field, on different boards and committees.

As the clip mentions, while Virginia may have forgotten about her studies at Stanford University, one family member did not – her son-in-law. He found out that because of the university’s change in requirements, Virginia had achieved enough credits to qualify for a degree. And so, Virginia attended and walked in the school’s recent graduation ceremony.

Everyone in attendance stood up and applauded the elderly graduate who waited more than 80 years to receive her master’s degree.

Proverbs 1:7 “The fear of the Lord is the start of knowledge: but the foolish have no use for wisdom and knowledge.”

Rescuers Save Adorable Kitten Trapped Between Truck's Tires

In a purr-icarious adventure, rescuers save an adorable kitten trapped between between truck tires.A curious kitten found herself in a tight spot between two semi-truck tires. The fluffy white and gray feline's curiosity led her to wedge herself into a predicament that had her stuck fast. A team of determined and fur-midable men gathered to rescue her, but her claws were firmly dug in. She didn’t trust mere hoomans to get her out of her sticky situation.

The Ohio State Patrol, in a display of remarkable teamwork, joined forces with the truck driver to devise a plan to free the stranded kitten. Their determination and careful precision were the key to their success. With a strategy in place, they set out to remove one of the tires, ensuring the safety of the fluffy stowaway. Their persistence paid off as they gently maneuvered the tire away, finally freeing the kitten from her confined quarters.

It was definitely a claw-ver operation, but they were all relieved to see the kitten safely out of harm's way. The Ohio State Patrol confirmed that the “rescue went purr-fectly” according to plan, ensuring the kitten was unharmed and ready to embark on her next whisker-tingling adventure.

As the fluffy explorer was rescued and taken to an animal rescue shelter, her resilience and bravery were a testament to the indomitable spirit of all creatures. The rescuers, filled with a sense of awe, couldn't help but marvel at her cat-itude. It was a heartwarming ending to a meow-velous rescue mission, a shining example of how, even in the most challenging of situations, with a little teamwork and determination, every creature can find its way back to safety.

Thank the good Lord for the kindness and compassion of good hooman beings who extend God’s love to all creatures, great and small. In this heartwarming rescue, we celebrate the selflessness of this curious kitten’s rescuers in caring for this precious little creature, saving not just her life but all nine of her lives. Through their actions, we see God’s divine grace at work, guiding their hands and hearts to ensure the safety and well-being of one of His creations.

Psalm 145:9 "The Lord is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made."

Man's Heartwarming Proposal Involves Total Stranger in the Sweetest Way

One young man’s heartwarming marriage proposal involved a total stranger in what is likely the sweetest way possible.

Marriage is a huge, massive step for every couple and should be entered into with much care, consideration and commitment. It’s a beautiful institution created by God that will forever change your life in the best ways. Marriage is the beginning of the family because, for most couples, children typically follow the “I dos” and the exchanging of vows.

However, before anything—the “I dos,” the walk down the aisle or children—one giant, important question must be asked. The man must ask the young woman for her hand in marriage. Some people have gone to great, extravagant and eye-popping lengths to create the perfect proposal. However, one young man came up with an inventive and sweet way to pop the question that involved the help of a stranger.

The short clip posted on social media captures the sweet moment at a concert and how a total stranger was involved. The video begins with text stating that the guy sitting in front of her and next to his girlfriend had just passed her a note.

The note began by addressing the individual and then made a request.

The young man asked the person sitting behind him to record him and his girlfriend when a specific song started to play because “I Plan to Propose. Thank You!”

Of course, the woman fulfilled the young man’s request and captured the sweet moment. The rest of the short 31-second video shows the two dancing and then with the guy down on his knees as he pops the question. We can’t hear her response, but she is completely

overwhelmed, crying with her face in her hand as she takes in the moment. So, it’s a pretty safe bet that she said, “Yes.” Also, in the closing seconds of the video, she is sporting the engagement ring.

What a sweet and beautiful moment that will remain on social media for that couple to watch whenever they want to relive that special time.

Genesis 2:24 “For this cause will a man go away from his father and his mother and be joined to his wife; and they will be one flesh.”

All Roads Lead to Intuitive Eating: What We Learned About Dieting

Today I sit down with my friends Erin Todd and Char-Lee Cassel--hosts of the Intuitive Eating for Christian Women Podcast--to talk about the key take aways from the interviews I've done with non-diet dietitians through the Fall. Char Lee is a registered dietician and exercise physiologist. Erin is an attorney by day and a food freedom fighter by night. Both of these women are passionate about helping others find freedom from diet culture, food obsession, and eating disorders.

  • How incredibly compassionate God was in how he created our bodies and responses to starvation.
  • What the difference is between intuitive eating and "eating whatever you want" with a diet mentality still present.

Two Heroes Save Unconscious Man on NYC Subway Tracks

In the bustling heart of New York City, amidst the rush of the subway system, a profound act of heroism unfolded that would resonate deeply beyond the crowded platform. Jordan, a tourist from Las Vegas, found himself suddenly thrust into a life-or-death situation when an unconscious man fell onto the tracks. Without a moment's hesitation, Jordan and another stranger leaped into action.

Amidst the chaos of shouting bystanders and frantic calls for help, Jordan acted swiftly, driven by instinct and compassion with another good samaritan. Together, they carefully lifted the unconscious man to safety, their adrenaline-fueled efforts ensuring his swift rescue. Jordan credits the speedy rescue and the ability to lift the unconscious man onto the platform with little effort, thanks to his hobby of rock climbing.

He also unknowingly put his life on the line because he wasn’t aware of the dangerous third rail’s deadly charge like most New Yorkers do. Once he learned about the danger, he was relieved and felt protected by God’s hands as he crossed the electrically charged rail back and forth to the other side of the rail station multiple times.

As emergency services arrived and the injured man was secured, Jordan's demeanor remained remarkably composed and calm. He returned to the platform's edge, ready to resume waiting for his subway train, though the gravity of his actions began to sink in. He had risked his life multiple times, navigating the electrified rails with the enthusiasm of the rescue.

Later reflections humbled Jordan, realizing God had used him as an angel on earth that night. His selfless bravery illustrated the power of human kindness and the courage that emerges in crisis. In the aftermath, Jordan's story spread widely, touching hearts and inspiring others with its profound message of hope and compassion.

In a world often fraught with turmoil and uncertainty, Jordan's actions serve as a reminder that heroes can emerge from unexpected places. His bravery stands as a testament to the divine potential within each of us to make a difference, to be a light in someone's darkest moment. Jordan, an unwitting angel on earth, exemplified the extraordinary impact of ordinary acts of courage and compassion.

Woman Finishes Boston Marathon and Gets Heartwarming Proposal

Meet Elizabeth Lawlor, a 30-year-old woman who finishes the Boston Marathon and gets a heartwarming proposal. As she approached the final stretch, her heart was filled with anticipation. Her boyfriend, Andrew Chuma, had already finished the race, and she was eager to reunite with him. Little did she know, a life-changing surprise was about to unfold.

Their journey together began through the Boston Marathon itself, a race known for its stringent qualifying standards. Many runners opt to participate through charity sponsorship, and just a year before this race, 28-year-old Andrew and his brothers had organized a 3-mile fundraising run for Colin's Joy Project, a marathon charity. It was there that fate intervened, and Andrew met Elizabeth. When he later made a $100 donation on her fundraising page, Elizabeth reached out to thank him, and a romance blossomed.

Fast-forward a year, and Andrew had secretly planned a heartwarming proposal at the marathon finish line. "I decided to make it a full-circle moment," he said. And it was very special."

For Andrew and Elizabeth, the spirit and mission of this charity are the bedrock of their relationship. Andrew expressed his desire for their bond to embody resilience and perseverance in the face of adversity. He said, "I want our entire relationship to be based on this concept. It's not because something bad happened; it's because something bad happened and then a couple of people decided to pick up the pieces and be resilient and keep it going."

As Elizabeth, exhausted but elated, crossed the finish line, she spotted Andrew waiting for her. He handed her a letter, pouring out his feelings and expressing how much she had changed his life. Then, in a moment that would change their lives forever, he dropped to one knee, presented a ring, and asked her to marry him. Overwhelmed with joy and tears, she said yes, surrounded by the cheers of fellow runners and spectators. It was a full-circle moment, a testament to love, resilience, and the unexpected beauty that can arise from even the most challenging circumstances.

Their story is a heartwarming reminder of the power of community, the strength found in shared purpose, and the unbreakable bonds forged through love and perseverance. Elizabeth and Andrew's journey serves as an inspiring beacon of hope, love, and resilience for all who hear it.

1 Corinthians 13:4-7 "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres."
