Self-Fulfilling Prophecies

Don't forget to grab your free scripture journal at PrayingChristianWomen.com/journal today!

What happens when the stories we tell ourselves end up becoming our reality?

In this episode, Jaime and Alana dive into the fascinating concept of self-fulfilling prophecies and how our internal narratives—whether positive or negative—can deeply impact our daily lives, our mindsets, and even our prayer habits. They discuss why anticipating failure often guarantees it, and how expecting God to move can open our eyes to His limitless possibilities.

Alana shares a hilarious and humbling story about mistaking the brain fog of a severe dairy intolerance for spiritual persecution while trying to memorize the Bible, reminding us of the dangers of confirmation bias and Christian superstition. Jaime shares an insightful story about her son's hockey practice, illustrating how breaking past mental limits can open the door to new achievements, and how she intentionally rewrote her own narrative about being "bad with names."

Along the way, they swap practical wisdom on the power of the words we speak over ourselves and others. From rethinking the unintentional "curses" we accidentally speak over our children at the playground to examining the widespread myth that praying for patience automatically invites tragedy, they offer a refreshing, grace-filled perspective on setting our expectations.

Whether you are battling a habit of negative self-talk, limiting God with small prayers, or simply need a gentle reminder to stop bracing for the worst, we hope this episode encourages you to rewrite your internal narratives, expect God's goodness, and boldly step into the calling He has for you.

If Life Feels Heavy, Pray This

This uplifting prayer encourages believers to rediscover joy, wonder, and emotional refreshment through God’s goodness and love.

One Man Finds a Clever (and Hilarious) Way Around High Gas Prices

One man has found a clever (and hilarious) way around high gas prices. Despite the ever-increasing prices at the pump, he’s doing what he can to keep as much money in his wallet. Watch the short clip to see what this man has done to help lessen the pain he feels whenever he fills up at the pump.

Prices for this, that and everything in between are going up, up and up some more. Given the constant and steady increase in prices, a trip to the grocery store is one of the most depressing things you can do. Buying groceries takes an ever-growing chunk out of our wallets, and sadly, there doesn’t appear to be a change coming anytime soon.

But before you can even get to the grocery store to pay those rapidly ballooning prices for food, you’ll no doubt encounter another growing expense: gas. Gas, like everything else, has gone up considerably in price. However, one man has come up with a unique, but very unconventional method to get around having to shell out a ton of cash to move about town.

A clip posted on YouTube shows how Mali Hightower, a handyman in Georgia, has put his knowledge and skills to good use. He put a fully functional two-gallon, one-piston engine in a pink Barbie Dream camper and uses it to get around town.

“I am inside my infamous Barbie camper, the Barbie jeep,” he said. “I’ve always kind of just had a niche for building go-carts and little things, and once I started seeing how gas prices were and things like that, I was like, ‘You know what? I’m going to start making little mini cars.’ And this is just one of them that I kept as my personal creation.”

Seeing a vehicle like that on the road would be a shock, for sure. But when the price of everything goes up considerably, as has been the case, people will get creative and do what they have to do.

Proverbs 13:11 “Wealth quickly got will become less; but he who gets a store by the work of his hands will have it increased.”

Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson Surprises School with Incredible Gift

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson surprised a school with an incredible gift. The actor and wrestler responded to a school in England with something that no one saw coming, and needless to say, they were overjoyed. Watch the short, but powerful and heartwarming clip to hear how The Rock responded to an elementary school that reached out to him on social media.

Unfortunately, we live in a lost and fallen world. Everywhere we look, we see examples of this undeniable fact. Social media is full of people profanely lashing out at one another. Every television news broadcast has stories of the latest vicious, fatal shooting. It’s clear that when it comes to hatred, malice and cruelty, there is an overwhelming surplus in this world.

But what about kindness, love and empathy? We are severely lacking, that’s for sure. So, what does it take to show someone a little bit of love and kindness? It requires very little time and really no talent or skill to make someone else’s day a little more pleasant and enjoyable.

In a clip posted on social media, Dwayne showed unbelievable love and kindness to a group of schoolchildren in England, surprising them with an incredible gift they didn't see coming.

The segment begins with a clip of the children reaching out to The Rock, saying that if he simply commented on their post, they would all get to go on a trip to see the upcoming live-action “Moana” film. It was a long shot, but sometimes long shots do pay off, and as it turned out, this one did as well.

Not only did he respond to the kids, but he also recorded a video for them and went much further than just that. He announced that he would be renting out a theater for them so that they, their friends and family could see the film completely free of charge.

Oh, and all the drinks and snacks were on him as well.

Yes, there are some people in positions who can do more extravagant, eye-catching things for others. But regardless of our financial situation, we can still show others kindness and love.  We can all do something to make others feel loved and appreciated.

Ephesians 4:32 “And be kind to one another, full of pity, having forgiveness for one another, even as God in Christ had forgiveness for you.”

Ainsley Earhardt on Teaching Children to Love America

Ainsley Earhardt joins Crosswalk Talk's Michael Foust to discuss her new children’s book America, I’m So Glad You Were Born and why she believes kids should grow up appreciating what makes the nation unique. Earhardt also opens up about raising her daughter in New York City, navigating political differences with grace and staying grounded spiritually while working in television news. Woman Gifts Her Brother a New Phone

I told him to open a package for me like it was nothing, just a normal day, but he had no idea what was actually inside. For context, we’ve been DoorDashing together lately as a way for me to make some extra money, and he’s been tagging along. The other day when I asked if he wanted to go again, he asked if I could help him pay to fix the battery in his phone… but instead, I decided to surprise him with a new one. Watching him go from confused to slowly realizing it was his is something I’ll never forget. He kept looking at me like it wasn’t real, and that moment meant more than I expected. Sometimes the smallest surprises turn into the biggest memories.

Before You Judge Someone, Pray This

This reflective morning prayer encourages believers to seek humility, honesty, and self-awareness through Christ’s teaching in Matthew 7.

This Business Has the Sweetest, Most Heartwarming Policy

This business has the sweetest, most heartwarming policy. The company has a very unconventional, surprising approach to conducting business. Watch the short but tear-jerking clip to hear how this business is doing things differently and winning hearts and bringing tears to eyes in the process.

In today’s day and age, it seems that most people are looking out for themselves, and only for themselves. As long as they get theirs, that is all that truly matters. Sadly, the self is the biggest motivating and driving factor for most people. Who cares what happens to or becomes of anyone else, right?

While this selfish, self-centered approach is evident in every aspect of life, it’s arguably the most apparent in the business world. Every day, it seems we hear how much this or that CEO makes a year, or how much they get when this massive company merges with that colossal one. This happens while people struggle to keep up with the rising costs of, well, everything, where a trip to the grocery store takes an ever-increasing bite out of your wallet.

A clip posted on social media shows a company that is doing things very differently. While they are likely not making a massive profit or have a CEO taking home millions of dollars every year, they are demonstrating their love for some of their smallest and most empty-handed customers.

In the video, two Maddy’s Ice Cream & More employees are working frantically in the back of their truck. They are hurriedly trying to get their customers ice cream. However, at one point, one of the women mentions that a little boy mentions that he doesn’t have any money. So, he starts to leave.

But before he gets too far, one of the women mentions that it isn’t a problem at all.

“Tell him to come back,” she says. “I’m still going to give it to him.”

Before the video ends, the woman turns to the camera and shares the company’s heartwarming policy.

“We don’t turn kids away when they don’t have money,” she adds. “You want an ice cream from Maddy? You get an ice cream from Maddy.”

Romans 12:10 “Be kind to one another with a brother’s love, putting others before yourselves in honor;”

Cliffe Knechtle and Stuart Knechtle on the Gen Z Revival, and What’s Driving It

Cliffe Knechtle and Stuart Knechtle say they are seeing a growing spiritual hunger among Gen Z as more young people search for meaning, purpose and answers to life’s biggest questions. In this interview with Crosswalk Talk's Michael Foust about their new book, "Demolishing Doubt," the father-son duo discuss why apologetics matters in today’s culture and how they engage skeptics on college campuses nationwide. They assert that many young adults are growing disillusioned with materialism, secularism and what they described as the “hollowness” of a godless worldview. The two also share why they believe Christianity offers both intellectual answers and personal healing for a generation struggling with anxiety, division and loneliness.

Firefighters Come to the Rescue of Child in a Tight Spot

Firefighters came to the rescue of a child in a tight spot. The little boy found himself in an unfortunate position, which required the assistance of some of the country’s finest. Watch the short but powerful clip to see the cramped area in which the boy found himself unable to escape.

Children have a knack for getting themselves into strange and often inexplicable situations, as all parents know. Those little ones, even though they may have been told 1,000 times to avoid this place or stay away from that, will do it anyway. I’m not sure there is anything more frustrating as a parent than when a child, despite the many warnings and stern lectures, does exactly what they were warned against.

Yes, that is aggravating, to say the least, but do we ever really outgrow that behavior? If we’re being honest with ourselves, we can probably name instances when our total disregard for prior warnings landed us in troubling positions. How many people can say their poor decisions and less-than-stellar choices didn’t result in problems and massive headaches? We’ve all been there and done that.

A clip posted on YouTube shows how a little guy’s poor decision left him stuck on the stairs, with little to no ability to move. He, for whatever reason, put his head through the railing of a staircase. While the young man had thought it was a good idea in the moment, he soon learned it was a rather poor choice.

The 2-year-old child was stuck, and getting him free required help from an entire group of firefighters. Although he was stuck, at least for a short period of time, all was not lost. The video shows the young man watching an episode of “Bluey” as he waited for the team to do their thing and get him out.

I’m guessing that he will not be doing that move ever again. But then again, children can have a hard time learning their lesson, so who knows, the crew may have to come back and free him again sometime.

Proverbs 22:6 “If a child is trained up in the right way, even when he is old, he will not be turned away from it.”

Obtaining the Favor of God

Having faith: Faith is explicitly named as a core requirement to be in God's "good books" and to receive His favor. Abraham is highlighted as a prime example of someone who successfully pleased God and obtained His favor directly through his faith. Actively seeking God’s favor through prayer and fasting is essential because it prioritizes God's approval above all else, above the fleeting, fragile favor of any human being.
