Remember the real reason for the Christmas season as this father-daughter duo joins together with the Rexburg Children’s Choir for a powerful rendition of ‘Believe.’ This touching song was originally performed by Josh Groban for the 2004 film and even received a Grammy award and Oscar nomination. The Polar Express is a beloved Christmas film and ‘Believe’ has quickly become a modern-day holiday favorite. “Believe in what your heart is saying Hear the melody that's playing There's no time to waste There's so much to celebrate” You may recognize father-daughter pair Mat and Savanna Shaw from one of their many YouTube videos. The duo made headlines earlier this year when their performance of ‘The Prayer’ went viral. They’ve continued to create beautiful music together, including some Christmas favorites. Today, they’ve enlisted the help of the Rexburg Children’s Choir for this stunning performance of ‘Believe.’ “Believe in what you feel inside And give your dreams the wings to fly You have everything you need If you just believe” On YouTube, the pair had high praise for the children’s choir. “There is nothing better than experiencing Christmas through the wonder and energy of children. There are some videos that flat-out amaze you, and this is one of them. An 82-year-old pole vaulter took a 50-year break before becoming the national champion. At the start of the video, we see Don Isett walking into a pole vaulting gym unexpectedly with his hat on. One girl shares that she thought he was someone's grandfather and then she realized that he was getting ready to pole vault himself. Don smiles with a pole in his hand. The young people are mesmerized by his talent. They cannot believe that he is there to practice and compete like them. Don shows his previous trophies and metals from his high school pole vaulting career. Now, he has picked up the sport again fifty years later. Don shares how he wasn’t that good, to begin with, so at 66 he decided to give it another try. Don says, “It’s fun, it’s like going to high school again with nothing to study.” Last year Don cleared 9 feet 1 inch as the first in his age bracket. We see his jump and the celebration of his world record on a clip. Don is absolutely inspiring to us all. He lives life to the fullest and goes after his dreams and goals. The Bible honors people of age and says that silver hair is a crown of glory. We can be reminded through Don that no matter what our purposes and talents are, that the Lord is using each of us in mighty ways. No matter what our age is, we have value and meaning in life. “The silver-haired head is a crown of glory, If it is found in the way of righteousness..” Proverbs 16:31

In an amazing sacrificial gift, an anonymous secret Santa blesses a woman who was injured while serving others at church. Check out this video that you will not want to miss. Three news anchors share that a secret Santa has donated one million dollars to be given to those deserving in Idaho. They share that they are outside of Arlene’s house. The newscasters tell us in a note that Arlene was described as an earthly angel. She has taken care of many children in the church as if they were her own. He goes on to say that recently Arlene was checking on the church to make sure it was locked at night and fell in the parking lot. When she was aware again, she went to her home across the road and called her brother. When she fell, her hands were in her pockets and so she broke her nose and other facial bones. She went to the hospital, but that did not stop her from opening her house to a family of four in need of a place to stay. The letter describes how hospitable Arlene is to the community. East Idaho News goes up to Arlene’s door and she opens the door surprised. She explains her fall and she looks amazing considering the injury. Arlene shares about the sweet family staying with her while they look for a house. The newscasters give her a gift and she opens it and realizes that it is $10,000. She is so amazed and grateful. They encourage her to do whatever she wants to get her shower fixed. The newscaster gives her another check for $10,000. She is in shock and thanks whoever is giving the money. “Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” 2 Corinthians 9:7

The message of Christ speaks life and love into any situation. In this video, The Voice contestant Jershika Maple sings, “God Only Knows,” and it leaves Kelly in tears. During this incredible performance and powerful message, Jershika begins by standing still singing on the stage in the middle of the dark with spotlights and artistic church windows. She begins singing her lyrics as if she is telling a story to a friend. Her use of voice, honesty, and even hand motions draw you into her message that no matter what you are going through God is the only one who truly knows and has been on the journey with you the entire time. Jershika shines in the chorus when she jumps an octave and wows the audience. She begins to walk around sharing the message clearly of this song. We continue to see clips of Kelly Clarkson tearing up over the song choice and performance. She and John Legend stand to their feet during the song. Kelly cries and John celebrates. Jershika has been given a unique platform to share Christ with the world. She is using her voice to point people to Jesus. She is very talented and an authentic performer. How are you using your skills as a platform to point others to Jesus? We each have giftings and abilities that we can use for the kingdom of God. It is a joy to celebrate the joy and life we have in Christ through our talents. “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:14-16

This is one of the most incredible proposals that you will ever see. Cameras capture ER nurses getting engaged after an epic proposal on a hospital helipad. The nurse walks with a stretcher going to the helicopter on the landing pad. She is prepared to help a patient. Little does she know that her boyfriend is in the helicopter. Her boyfriend, who is also a nurse, gets out of the other side of the helicopter and drops to one knee proposing to the girl. She says yes and gives him a good kiss. She jumps into his arms and the couple embraces. The crowd behind the camera cheers and celebrates. This video is a grand gesture of love. When we watch this, we are excited about the joy in this young couple. We feel excited for them and their romance just by viewing. We celebrate their proposal moment and their love. Maybe you have always dreamed of having a huge act of love on your behalf? We must all remember that Jesus died on the cross for us as the greatest gesture of love there has ever been and ever will be. This helicopter proposal reminds us of the even grander love of our Lord and Savior. He came to us and died and rose on our behalf out of His Perfect Love. “This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.” 1 John 4:9-10

The camera zooms in on a Christmas sweater at the beginning of the video, and the sweater starts singing the lyrics of the song with his tinsel mouth. You see the owner of the sweater go through the year, wearing other holiday outfits, while the Christmas sweater longs to be worn. She finally put the Christmas sweater on for her holiday party at the end of December. “I just adore this video and song!” comments one person on YouTube after watching the music video. “Thank you, Michael, for putting a smile on my face! Merry Christmas!” “Michael Bublé always knows how to bring the Christmas spirit to life!” writes another person online. In a recent interview, Michael Bublé shared about what he loves most during the holiday season. “Hanging out with my family and all our relatives and friends, for me, there’s nothing better than that,” the singer said. “To me, the holidays are about bringing people together and being with family. It’s no secret it’s my favorite time of year. The holidays are a time to step back and cherish your loved ones.” He continues: “In our house, we love to sing and dance during the holidays, everything from ‘Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town’ to ‘Feliz Navidad’. Feel the Christmas spirit as you hear this father-daughter duo sing the classic tune, ‘White Christmas.’ This holiday favorite was written by Irving Berlin for the 1942 film ‘Holiday Inn.’ It was performed as a duet between legendary vocalist Bing Crosby and Marjorie Reynolds. The song went on to spur a musical of the same name also starring Bing. The film ‘White Christmas’ was the highest grossing movie of 1954. “I'm dreaming of a white Christmas Just like the ones I used to know Where the treetops glisten and children listen To hear sleigh bells in the snow” Mat and Savanna Shaw are a talented father-daughter pair that enjoy singing together. When COVID forced the world inside, the duo decided to record themselves singing and post it online. They had no idea that their videos would go viral and people would be requesting more and more. Now, Mat and Savanna have a growing YouTube channel and an album on the way full of our favorite covers. And today, we are in for a wintry treat as they perform the holiday classic ‘White Christmas.’ Just listen as their voices beautifully belt out these iconic lyrics. “I'm dreaming of a white Christmas With every Christmas card I write May your days be merry and bright And may all your Christmases be white” Isaiah 9:6 “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

Listen to this talented teen sing an incredible cover of ‘I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing.’ You don’t want to miss this! Believe it or not, Lucy Thomas is only 17 years old and made a name for herself a few years ago on UK’s The Voice Kids. Even though she didn’t win the show, she walked away with a record deal. This young powerhouse has released three albums since! On her most recent album, Lucy performs her rendition of ‘I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing’ and absolutely nails it! This easily recognizable tune was written by Diane Warren, an award-winning songwriter. She intended the song to be for a voice like Celine Dion, but it wound up in the hands of Aerosmith. The rock band recorded it in ‘98 for the iconic suspense film, Armageddon. Both the musician and movie are surprising choices when you read over the romantic lyrics. I just want to hold you close I feel your heart so close to mine And just stay here in this moment For all of the rest of time Although beautifully poetic, it does seem a bit misplaced! Regardless, Aerosmith hit the nail on the head with this song. Originally, the song was a radio special, but its success prompted the record studio to release it commercially. I bet there’s not one person above the age of 25 that doesn’t recognize it! Definitely a classic. Since Lucy has sung plenty of ballads, she put her own twist on this classic rock song. And she did not disappoint! This young woman has such a beautiful gift and shares it every day with the world. We can’t wait to see what songs she covers next! Eastern Idaho’s very own Secret Santa surprises one daycare worker who walks to work every day, and, in the process, he kicks off her holiday in a wonderful way! Idaho is known as “the Gem State,” and they have definitely got one among them! An anonymous gentleman, referred to as “Secret Santa,” is on a mission to gift $1 million to deserving folks in his community. And, he has sought the help of the East Idaho News to carry out his gift-giving assignments. How cool is that! Here we see Nate Eaton as he visits one very special lady at the daycare where she works in Rexburg. However, Nate first takes a few minutes to explain why Jaime has been selected to be one of Secret Santa’s recipients. Jaime has been described as “kind” and “sweet,” and she is very dedicated to her work teaching and caring for the children in her charge. Jaime has a wonderful singing voice, and she’s a graduate of BYU-Idaho. But, Jaime faces considerable challenges. Jaime has health concerns, which prevent her from driving. So, she walks each day from her apartment to her community’s Walmart shuttle, takes the shuttle to work, and reverses the process at the end of each day. Idaho weather can get pretty nasty, but Jaime walks through ice and snow nonetheless. And, while Jaime loves to sing, she also has partial hearing loss. After sharing a bit about Jaime, Nate goes into Jaime’s work to meet her and make her day! It takes just a few seconds to see that Nate’s description of Jaime is clearly true. She does seem very kind and sweet indeed! Nate gives Jaime three gifts, and she appears more touched by each one. The first is $1,000 to spend on groceries, which can be ordered and delivered to her home. The second is $1,000 to use at PetSmart. This gift is primarily for Emmett, Jaime’s service dog, and roommate. That’s a lot of dog food! Emmett may even get some treats or toys in his stocking! Finally, Jaime is given $1,000 to use with Uber’s ride service. Can you imagine how much nicer winter in Rexburg will be for Jaime this year! Jaime has the most unassuming and soft-spoken manner—a beautiful lady inside and out! If Secret Santa is an East Idaho gem, then it certainly seems he found a treasure in Jaime! “So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.” Matthew 6:2

This is one of the most inspiring videos that I have ever seen. A 105-year-old woman runs 100 meters and sets a record. At the start of the video, the woman in the USA shirt is determined on the track as many fans cheer her on. The gun shoots and she begins to run. Julia Hawkins is her name and she is 105 years old, living in Louisiana. She shares that she “does many other wonderful things and this is just a drop in the bucket.” Her run was 63 seconds. As she finishes, loved ones at the finish line embrace her. Julia says that she is so happy. The woman is incredible. She trains by jogging a mile a day in her neighborhood. Julia’s husband passed away years ago. She says that she “could not imagine being this old and without him, it is not the same. It’s not quite as wonderful.” Julia runs and gardens to keep herself busy. She tells of the touching story of her husband passing away in his sleep after he sang love songs to her. This video has gone viral for good reason. Julia Hawkins is motivating to watch and learn from in this clip. Viewing this encourages us in our race of faith to run with endurance and trust Jesus every step of the way. “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross,scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:1-2
