Single moms work tirelessly to ensure their children have everything they 'need' but sometimes there just isn’t enough money for 'wants' like letterman jackets.
Yet, this story is just incredible and you don’t want to miss this video. A single mom couldn’t afford her son’s letterman jacket but divine intervention brings it back 28 years later.
Jed Mottely believes the letterman jacket he now proudly wears with pride is a message from his mom even though she passed away nine years ago. Jed and his brother Josh knew they were blessed to have such a great mom who ensured their every need was met.
She worked several jobs and loved them with every fiber of her soul. So when Jed asked to order a letterman’s jacket when he was in high school, his mom said yes.
She figured she would find a way to scrimp up the $300 for the jacket. So, when the jackets came in, Jed couldn’t wait to go pick his up. But that week his mom said she didn’t have enough money.
After the first few weeks passed, Jed began to wonder if he would ever get the jacket but he just wanted to be like everyone else on this football team with a jacket. "I didn't tell anybody.
I was a little embarrassed about it,” he commented. Jed never got to wear the jacket, much less pay for it. Eventually, he graduated high school and moved on with his life. 28 years later, he got a call from his brother that left him astounded.
You see, Josh loves thrift shopping. He happened to walk into a store one afternoon and found hundreds of letterman jackets that had been donated to the store. Josh remembered how much Jed’s jacket had meant to him and he also remembered how their mother was trying to save to get it.
On a hunch, he dug through all the jackets and he couldn’t believe what he had found. It was Jed’s jacket. It had Jed’s football number on it. It was as if God was saying he understood the longing and the desire in Jed’s heart. Immediately Josh called his brother.
"He calls and says, 'Jed, was there any other Jeds in Chaparral in 1994?'" Jed recalled to the outlet. "I said, 'Nah, just one.' I looked down. He said, 'Dude, I just sent you this picture of your jacket.' I couldn't believe it.'" Jed recalled.
After Josh purchased the jacket for Jed and sent it to him, they talked about this stunning find. They both feel as though it’s divine intervention and they know their mother is looking out for them from heaven.
Jed now proudly wears the jacket everywhere. Now he has an incredible story of his mother’s love and how our heavenly Father cares too.
Jed, wear your jacket proudly. It’s a symbol of love!
